                                <binding><p>The manuscript is bound in a grey cardboard binding from the time of 
                                    <name type="person" key="JenWeb001">Jens Jacob Weber</name>, i.e. <date from="1771" to="1780">1771-1780</date>.
                                    On the front cover, the shelfmark <q>No 611. E</q> and the title <q>Grimallds Rímur Nockrar vísur Síra Jons Arasonar</q>
                                    were written by two different hands.
                                    On the spine, there are remnants of two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.
                                    The pastedown is made from printed material, on which the page numbers 262 and 263 can be read.</p></binding>

                            <origin><p>
                                The codicological unit was written in <origPlace key="IS">Iceland</origPlace>.
                                Kålund dates it to the
                                <date>seventeenth century</date> <bibl>
                                <ref target="KKKat">Katalog II</ref>, <biblScope unit="page">17</biblScope></bibl>, 
                                but according to the dates given in the rubrics, the manuscript can not be written before
                            <date notBefore="1650">1650</date> and should consequently be dated to the 
                            <origDate from="1650" to="1700">second half of the seventeenth century</origDate>.</p></origin>
                            <provenance>
                                <p><name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>
                                    received the larger manuscript, of which this was a part, from 
                                    <name key="GudTho006" type="person">Guðmundur Þorleifsson</name> in Brokey 
                                    (see AM-slip in <ref>AM 613 c 4to</ref>), who died in <date notAfter="1720">1720</date>.</p>
