                                            <p>The watermark on the added leaf fol. <locus>1</locus> is a different coat of arms of Amsterdam.</p>

                                    <foliation ana="later pag">There is earlier pagination in brown ink in the top outer corners. The original leaves,
                                    fols. <locus>2-29</locus>, have the numbers 89-144. The added leaf fol. <locus>1</locus> show the numbers
                                        87-88, which is in accordance with the old pagination, but was added later. <note>The pagination
                                        is the continuation of the pagination in <ref>AM 585 b 4to</ref> and continues in 
                                        <ref>AM 585 d 4to</ref>.</note></foliation>

                                        <catchwords>There are catchwords on every page.</catchwords>
                                    <condition><p>The leaves are somewhat dark and have many stains.</p> 
                                        <p>The leaves have been trimmed in a way
                                        that some of the ascenders in the top line were cut off.</p>
                                        <p>The edges are rather dark and dirty.</p>

                                <decoNote type="paratext">The rubric and first line of text of item 2 are written with
                             more decorative and slightly larger letters.</decoNote>
                            <decoNote type="paratext">The catchwords are decorated with different squiggles.</decoNote>
                                <decoNote type="paratext">The end of the first text is written in the shape of half a diamond.</decoNote>
                            <additions><p>Fol. <locus from="1r" to="1v">1</locus> was added in replacement of the missing beginning. 
                            The text of the beginning is seemingly copied by one of <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">
                                Árni Magnússon</name>'s scribes and is corrected by him in black ink.</p>
                                <p><name type="person" key="">Jón Jónsson</name>, son of the scribe, has added to the colophon on fol. <locus>19r</locus>: 
                                    <q>Jon Thordarsson  m.e.h.</q> <note>Identified based on additions in <ref>AM 345 4to</ref>, fol. <locus>29v</locus>.</note></p>
                                <p>There are a few marginal additions by the scribe.</p></additions>
                                    <p>The manuscript is bound in a modern half binding with fabric on the boards from <date when="1983">1983</date>.
                                        It was made under
                                        <name type="person" key="BirDal001">Birgitte Dall</name> prior to the manuscript being sent to Iceland.</p>
                                <binding><p>An older binding is preserved. It is a plain grey cardboard binding from
                                <name type="person" key="JenWeb001">Jens Jacob Weber</name>'s time, i.e. <date from="1771" to="1780">1771-1780</date>.
                                The shelfmark (including the letter)
                                and the title were written on the front cover. The pastedown in made from printed material.
                                On the spine, there are remnants of two stickers
                                for the shelfmark and the running number.</p></binding>
                        <origin>The codicological unit was written in <origPlace key="IS">Iceland</origPlace> 
                            by <name type="person" key="JonTho058">Jón Þórðarson</name>.
                            According to the colophon it was written in 
                            <origDate when="1691">1691</origDate>.
                            <p><name type="person" role="owner" key="JonJon071">Jón Jónsson</name> inherited the manuscript, of which this codicological unit was part, after his father 
                                <name type="person" key="JonTho058" role="owner">Jón Þórðarson</name>. 
                                In <date when="1710">1710</date>, <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name> 
                                gave the larger manuscript to <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>, who rearranged the parts.
                                It is not known how the manuscript came to <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name>, 
                                but in his notes, <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>
                                mentions that <name type="person" key="SigSae001">Sigmundur Sæmundsson</name> 
                                is said to have been a previous owner <bibl>AM 435 a 4to, 82r</bibl>.</p>
