                                The main text was mostly written in chancery, the catchwords in kurrent script.</handNote>
                            <decoDesc><decoNote type="initial">The initials span up to 6 lines. Most initials are neatly decorated
                                by means of additional lines and strokes. Some initials also have
                                floral ornaments. The letter "Þ" on fol. <locus>1r</locus> shows a bearded face. <note>Cf. <ref>AM 536 4to ("Þ" and "N")</ref>.</note></decoNote>
                            <decoNote type="paratext">On fol. <locus>1r</locus>, the rubric and first line of the section are emphasised
                                by means of a slightly larger letter size and a changing script type.</decoNote>
                            <decoNote type="paratext">The catchwords are decorated with varying squiggles.</decoNote></decoDesc>
                            <additions><p>On fol. <locus>14v</locus>, there is an addition in the margins, but it is hardly visible
                                due to fading ink.</p></additions>
                            <bindingDesc> <binding><p>The manuscript is bound in a grey cardboard binding from the time of 
                                <name type="person" key="JenWeb001">Jens Jacob Weber</name>, i.e. <date from="1771" to="1780">1771-1780</date>.
                                The shelfmark (including the letter) and the title of the saga were written on the front cover.
                                On the spine, there are remnants of two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.
                                The pastedown is made from printed material.</p></binding>
                            <origin>The codicological unit was written in <origPlace key="IS">Iceland</origPlace>
                                by <name type="person" key="JonTho058">Jón Þórðarson</name>.
                                According to the colophon, this part was finished in 
                                <origDate when="1688">1688</origDate>.
                                <p><name type="person" role="owner" key="JonJon071">Jón Jónsson</name> inherited the manuscript, of which this codicological unit was part, after his father 
                                    <name type="person" key="JonTho058" role="owner">Jón Þórðarson</name>. 
                                    In <date when="1710">1710</date>, <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name> 
                                    gave the larger manuscript to <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>, who rearranged the parts.
                                    It is not known how the manuscript came to <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name>, 
                                    but in his notes, <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>
                                    mentions that <name type="person" key="SigSae001">Sigmundur Sæmundsson</name> is said to have been a previous owner 
                                    <bibl>AM 435 a 4to, 82r</bibl>.</p>
