                            <bindingDesc> <binding><p>The manuscript is bound in a grey cardboard binding from the time of 
                                <name type="person" key="JenWeb001">Jens Jacob Weber</name>, i.e. <date from="1771" to="1780">1771-1780</date>.
                                The shelfmark (including the letter) and the title of the saga were written on the front cover.
                                On the spine, there are remnants of two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.
                                The pastedown is made from printed material.</p></binding>
                            <accMat>An <locus from="accMat01r" to="accMat01v">AM-slip</locus> 
                                (<dimensions type="slip" unit="mm"><height>193</height><width>146</width></dimensions>) 
                                is attached to the inner margin of the first leaf. It was written by <name key="ArnMag001" type="person">Árni
                                Magnússon</name>. The last page numbers were corrected in a lighter brown ink, though
                                 possibly by <name key="ArnMag001" type="person">Árni
                                    Magnússon</name> himself.
                                The slip reads: <q xml:lang="is" type="AMSlip">Hectors saga pag. 1.

                            <origin>The codicological unit was written in <origPlace key="IS">Iceland</origPlace>
                                by <name type="person" key="JonTho058">Jón Þórðarson</name>.
                                According to the colophon in the other parts of the original manuscript, it was written in 
                                <origDate notBefore="1651" notAfter="1700">in the second half of the seventeenth century</origDate>.
                                <p><name type="person" role="owner" key="JonJon071">Jón Jónsson</name> inherited the manuscript, of which this codicological unit was part, after his father 
                                    <name type="person" key="JonTho058" role="owner">Jón Þórðarson</name>. 
                                    In <date when="1710">1710</date>, <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name> 
                                    gave the larger manuscript to <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>, who rearranged the parts.
                                    It is not known how the manuscript came to <name type="person" key="MarBer001" role="owner">Markús Bergsson</name>, 
                                    but in his notes, <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>
                                    mentions that <name type="person" key="SigSae001">Sigmundur Sæmundsson</name> 
                                    is said to have been a previous owner <bibl>AM 435 a 4to, 82r</bibl>.</p>
