									<condition><p>The leaves have darkened and show many stains throughout the manuscript. However, 
										fols. <locus>1r</locus>, <locus>3r</locus>, <locus>9v-10r</locus> and <locus>17v-18r</locus> are even darker.</p>
										<p>The edges are untrimmed and dirty.</p>
									<p>Fol. <locus>1</locus> is a singleton that is bound the wrong way around, meaning that the
									current recto-side used to be the verso-side (see watermark). The crossed-out text on the current fol. <locus>1v</locus> was then at the beginning 
									of the manuscript and presumably contains the end of a previous text. <note>However, in the lower half of the current fol. <locus>1v</locus>,
									there are 9 lines of (otherwise missing) text, written by the scribe.</note></p>
										<p>Many leaves have been repaired in the outer corners and fol. <locus>1</locus> on both the original and the current fore-edge.</p>

							<bindingDesc><binding><p>The current binding is a modern half binding with fabric on the
								boards from <date when="1973">1973</date>.
							Before, the manuscript was bound in a grey cardboard binding. The pastedown of the older
							binding is made from blank paper, the leaf used in the front 
							board appearing somewhat bluish.</p> 
								<p>In the top left-hand corner of the front cover, 
							the shelfmark <q>408 b</q> was written in black ink.
							On the spine, there are two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number in 
							addition to the shelfmark being written onto the spine.</p></binding></bindingDesc>

										The second quire is completely stained as if it got entirely wet.</p>
									<p>The top edges of the leaves, especially of the second quire, are dirtier than the rest of the leaves.</p></condition>

								in some places. On fols. <locus>13r</locus> and <locus>16v</locus>, however, the pasted-on strip is still in place, and on fol. <locus>16v</locus> the 
								covered letters have been copied onto the slip by <name type="person" key="ArnAMg001">Árni Magnússon</name>.</p>
								<p>While the leaves in the beginning of the manuscript are relatively clean, 
									the last quire is dirty with many stains and the material
								has suffered considerably. The paper is moreover of a different kind and much thinner (see watermark).</p>
								<p>The first and last page of the manuscript are darker then the rest.</p>
								<p>The edges show a thin dark line of dirt.</p>

							but the material that was used for pasting over the text

							<p>The beginning of the new text is crossed out with three vertical lines of light brown ink.</p>
						<p>A later hand corrected many words (mostly the spelling) in the text using a darker ink.</p></additions>
						
						<bindingDesc><binding><p>The manuscript is bound in a cardboard binding covered in now 
							yellowish fine-grained paper. The pastedowns are made from blank paper, 
							through which the parchment strips can be seen that were used as sewing support. 
							(The three strips (7 mm wide each) can also be seen in between quire I and II.)
						On the front cover, the shelfmark <q>408e</q> was added in the top left-hand corner using brown ink. On the spine, there
						are remnants of two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number. <note>Since the manuscript was recorded as being bound in

									<p>The manuscript has suffered severe damage from humidity, so that some of the ink

									stains from dirt or mud are visible. <note>Such stains are not present on the front cover, indicating that 
										the manuscript bound after the stain occurred.</note></p>

							<bindingDesc><binding><p>The manuscript is bound in plain thin, uncovered cardboard. On the inside of the cardboard, a lighter 
								sheet of paper has been pasted on. In the back, some printed text shines through the sheet and shows
								the date <date when="1822">1822</date>. On the front cover, the shelfmark <q>408i</q> was added twice, and on the spine, there
								are two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.</p></binding></bindingDesc>

								is now kept separately in a cardboard bifolium. It contains a family tree of bishop Klængur.

								The slip shows the lower part of a coat of arms of Amsterdam watermark with the letters "VI" underneath.</p>
