                                        <catchwords>There are long catchwords (ca. half a line) on every page, 
                                            of which only the last word is the actual catchword. The
                                        rest is a pseudo-catchword.</catchwords> 
                                    <condition><p>The lower part of fol. <locus from="8r" facs="#AM02-0164c-0008r" to="8v"
                                        >8</locus> is cut off at the end of the text.</p>
                                    <p>The leaves are rather dirty with many stains, especially around the edges.</p>
                                    <p>Many leaves have been repaired using Japanese paper.</p></condition>

                                <decoNote type="initial">The major initial spans ca. 3 lines. It is decorated in a subtle way by means of
                                    bolder strokes, one of them being fractured. Other initials span hardly more than 1 line and are emphasised 
                                    in a subtle manner.</decoNote>
                                <decoNote type="paratext">The rubric is written in larger letters of chancery script.</decoNote>
                                <decoNote type="frieze">There are two tiny tail-pieces at the end of the text.
                                They resemble the letters  "q.q." with the bowls filled in.</decoNote> 
                                <p>There are several names on fol. <locus from="8v"
                                    facs="#AM02-0164c-0008v" to="8v">8v</locus>, which was originally blank. One of them can be read as 
                                    <q>Daði Jónsson</q>.</p>
                                <p>A piece of paper (possibly from an envelope) was glued onto fol. 
                                <locus from="8r" facs="#AM02-0164c-0008r" to="8v">8</locus>
                                    to replace the lower cut-off part of the leaf. (Now removed and counted as fol. <locus>[8bis]</locus>). 
                                    On the verso-side of the added paper, <q>á Alþyng</q> can be read
                            and some writing is running bottom-up on what may have been the front of the envelope.</p>
                                <p>On the lower part of the added leaf, the names <q>Jón Halldórsson m.e.h.</q> and <q>Margrét Pétursdóttir</q>
                                    can be read without turning the paper. These may have been added, after the piece was glued onto
                                    fol. <locus from="8v" to="8v">8v</locus>. Since the verso-side of the remaining fol. <locus from="8v" to="8v">8</locus>
                                    was originally blank, the cut-off part may have only contained some stanzas,
                                    an incomplete beginning of a new text, or was originally blank and 
                                    reused for a different purpose.
                                    <note> <name type="person" key="MarPet001">Margrét Pétursdóttir</name> is the wife of 
                                        <name type="person" key="DadJon001">Daði Jónsson</name> and the mother of 
                                        <name type="person" key="JonDad001">Jón Daðason Gam</name>, from whom 
                                        <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name> received the manuscript.
                                    That means the manuscript may have been changed before it came to him.
                                <p>A narrow paper strip used to be glued onto fol. <locus from="8r" facs="#AM02-0164c-0008r" to="8v">8</locus>.
                                On its verso-side <q><gap/>re Þorleifsson</q> can be read.</p>
                            <binding notBefore="1772" notAfter="1780" contemporary="false">
                                <p>The manuscript is bound in a grey cardboard binding (<dimensions type="binding" unit="mm"
                                    from  <name type="person" key="JenWeb001">Jens Jacob Weber</name>'s time, 
                                    i.e. <date notBefore="1771" notAfter="1780">1771-1780</date>. 
                                    The shelfmark (including the letter "C") and the title of the saga are written onto the front cover. 
                               On the spine, there is a blue sticker for the shelfmark. The pastedown
                                is made from blank paper, but in the back, printed material can be seen through it.</p>
                                    <item>An <locus from="accMat01r" facs="#AM02-0164c-accMat01r"
                                            to="accMat01v">AM-slip</locus> (<dimensions type="slip"
                                            ><height>97</height><width>76</width></dimensions>), written by 
                                        <name key="ArnMag001" type="person">Árni
                                            Magnússon</name>, reads: 
                                        <q>ur bok þeirre er eg feck af Jonas 
                            <p>The codicological unit was written in <origPlace key="IS">Iceland</origPlace>.
                                Kålund dates it to the <origDate notBefore="1601" notAfter="1700">seventeenth century</origDate> 
                                <bibl><ref target="KKKat">Katalog I</ref>, <biblScope unit="page">133</biblScope></bibl>.
                            <p><name key="ArnMag001" type="person">Árni Magnússon</name> received the
                                larger codex, of which this codicological unit was a part, from <name key="JonDad001" type="person">Jón
                                    Daðason</name> (see AM-slip). </p>
