                                            <p>In the main text block, the watermark consists of
                                                two round towers. They are connected by an archway without portcullis but with a pointed gable.  There is a pointy plinth underneath.  
                                                The countermark consists of the letters "HP" written together. <note>The same watermark is found in the main text block of 
                                                <ref>AM 1 a fol.</ref> and <ref>AM 192 fol.</ref></note></p>
                                            <p>On the front and back flyleaves, there is a coat of arms, which is rather "fuzzy" in style. There are lions, but no crown on top. 
                                                The letters "HS" written together can be read underneath.
                                            The coat of arms itself is divided into two parts (right and left half). <note>See also the old binding of <ref>AM 161 fol.</ref></note></p>

                                contemporary="false"><p>The binding is from the period <date from="1700" to="1730">1700-1730</date>, 
                                    i.e. from <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni Magnússon</name>'s time.
                                    It is a full binding made from parchment on cardboard 
                                    with parchment strips laced through the spine fold. 
                                    On the spine, there is a sticker for the shelfmark and a little spot indicates that there used to be 
                                    another sticker for the running number.
                                    On the spine, partially covered by the sticker, 
                                    <q xml:lang="is">Hr[olfs Kraka S]aga</q> is written in brown ink. 
                                    On the inside of the back cover, the lower right-hand corner of the pastedown is folded in (possibly done during later repair?) and on the 
                                    free space of the parchment, a signature is visible. <!-- not identified -->

                                <provenance><p>According to the accompanying slip, <name type="person" key="ArnMag001">Árni
                                    Magnússon</name> borrowed the codicological unit from <name type="person"
                                        key="JonTho012">Jón Þorláksson</name> in <date when="1709"
                                            >1709</date> and then purchased it from him in <date when="1710"
                                                >the following year</date>. The codicological unit was then part of a
                                    larger codex.</p>
