There is later pagination in black ink on every other recto-page (1-59) and on the last page (60). A later hand has added the missing pagination on every first recto-page in pencil.
There are five quires:
  • Quire I: fols. 1-8 (1+8, 2+7, 3+6, 4+5) (4 bifolia) Note: This is an original quire.
  • Quire II: fols. 9-16 (9+16, 10+15, 11+14, 12+13) (4 bifolia) Note: This is an original quire.
  • Quire III: fols. 17-24 (17+24, 18+23, 19+22, 20+21) (4 bifolia) Note: Repaired, but probably an original quire.
  • Quire IV: fols. 25-26 (25+26) (1 bifolium) Note: The leaves were joined during restoration (see below).
  • Quire V: fols. 27-30 (27+30, 28+29) (2 bifolia) Note: These four leaves used to form the inner two bifolia of a larger quire, of which fols. 25-26 formed the outer most bifolia.
There are no quire signatures. There are catchwords on almost every page.
  • The leaves show many stains and have darkened considerably, especially in the margins.
  • Fols. 1r, 8v-9r, 16v-17r and 24v-25r are darker than the rest, indicating the original quire boundaries.
  • Many leaves have been repaired at the edges and close to the spine.
  • On the last 6 leaves, the pricking holes in the inner margins are visible.
The text is written in one column. 170-175 mm x 135 mm32-3512-14

Info: (see Springborg 1969, 228).
  • Initial: The initials are written slightly larger than the text (1-2 lines).
  • Paratext: Most catchwords are accompanied by squiggles.
  • On fol. 30v, a verse of four lines was added, possibly by the scribe.
  • A ownership note below the added verse on fol. 30v reads:
"hier endast Sigurgards Rymur ad kueda og skrifa[.] Þessa bok A Eg Øløf Gudmúnz Døtter enn Jon Biarnar son hefur skrifad þesse Ørd. Ender"

The binding is from Jens Jakob Weber's time, i.e. 1771-1780. It is made from grey cardboard and uses printed material in the pastedown. On the front cover, the shelfmark (including the letter) and the title of the text were written in ink. On the spine, there are two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.

An AM-slip (195 mm x 145 mm) is bound in front of the manuscript. Árni Magnússon has written on it:
"Sigurdaz Rïmur 16. feingnar 1710. af Sigmunde Sæmundz syne.
og voru þä aptanvid Sỏgur
af Vilhialme siod
af Dinus Dramblata.
af Hrolfi Gautrekssyne
af Sỏrla sterka.
af Fertram og Plato."
The codicological unit was written in Iceland. Kålund dates it to the seventeenth century (Kålund 1889-1894, 2: 25).
Árni Magnússon received the codicological unit as part of a larger codex from Sigmundur Sæmundsson in 1710 (sbr. accMat). A certain Ólöf Guðmundsdóttir left an ownership mark on fol. 30v.

Former Physical Context:
  • When Árni Magnússon acquired the codicological unit it was part of Ms71.
