On the AM-slip, part of a watermark is visible in the upper inner corner. It could possibly be the an upper corner of a Maid of Dort watermark (fence?). The chain-lines are running vertically.

There is irregular pagination in black ink on mostly every other recto-page (1-145) and on the last, blank page (146). A later hand has added the missing pagination in pencil on the recto-pages.
There are nine quires:
  • Quire I: fols. 1-10 (1, 2, 3+10, 4+9, 5+8, 6+7) (2 singletons, 4 bifolia) Note: The two singletons fols. 1 and 2 used to be part of the last quire in AM 615 o 4to, which is now missing its two final leaves.
  • Quire II: fols. 11-18 (11+18, 12+17, 13+16, 14+15) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire III: fols. 19-26 (19+26, 20+25, 21+24, 22+23) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire IV: fols. 27-34 (27+34, 28+33, 29+32, 30+31) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire V: fols. 35-42 (35+42, 36+41, 37+40, 38+39) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire VI: fols. 43-50 (43+50, 44+49, 45+48, 46+47) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire VII: fols. 51-58 (51+58, 52+57, 53+56, 54+55) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire VIII: fols. 59-66 (59+66, 60+65, 61+64, 62+63) (4 bifolia)
  • Quire IX: fols. 67-74 (67+74, 68+73, 69+72, 70+71) (4 bifolia)
There are no quire signatures. There are catchwords on every page.
  • The leaves are untrimmed.
  • There are several stains throughout the manuscript.
  • All egdes are dirty. Close to the fore-edge of fol. 74v, the outer 20 mm are especially dirty, while the rest of the page is cleaner. Note: This indicates that the manuscript may have been stored in a bifolium that was shorter than the manuscript.
  • The edges of the leaves are curled up.
The text is written in one column. 165-180 mm x 135-140 mm32-3510-12
Eyjólfur Þorbjörnsson Hybrida Sole
  • Initial: There are decorated initials. The initials correlate to 3-9 lines. The initials are bolder than other letters and were decorated with floral ornaments and additional lines. The initial on fol. 63r (Þ) moreover has a face in the bow.
  • Paratext: The catchwords are decorated with varying squiggles.
  • Paratext: There are small line fillers at the end of verses. At the end of each ríma, there are three line fillers.
  • Paratext: The title and the first line of text are distinguished from the rest by means of a different script type (chancery).
  • There are a few additions and corrections to the text made by the scribe.

The binding is from Jens Jacob Weber's time, i.e. 1771-1780. It is made from grey cardboard and uses printed material as pastedown. On the front cover, the shelfmark (including the letter) and the title of the text were written in ink. On the spine, there are two stickers for the shelfmark and the running number.
  • An AM-slip (163 mm x 109 mm) is attached in front of the manuscript. The same scribe who has written the AM-slip and fol. 1v of AM 615 o 4to has written on this slip:
"Þessar Rimur eru komnar fra Eyolfe i Längey til Jöns Magnus sonar, enn frä Honum til min 1707."
  • On the verso-side of the AM-slip there are crossed-out remnants of a family tree in Árni Magnússon's hand. The first field in the second row reads
"Jon prestur ad qvenna brecku i Middỏlum"
, while the second field reads
    "Jorunn"
. The larger field below reads
    "Magnus"
, who is the son of Jón and Jörunn, i.e. Árni Magnússon's father. Note: The verso-side of the AM-slip in AM 615 o 4to shows the same kind of family tree, but centred around Árni Magnússon's mother.
The codicological unit was written in Iceland in 1694 (see colophon).
The codicological unit came to Árni Magnússon from his brother Jón Magnússon in 1707. Before him, Eyjólfur Þorbjörnsson í Langey owned the codicological unit.

Former Physical Context:
  • When Árni Magnússon acquired the codicological unit it was part of Ms31.
